EU FloodCommand programme concludes, VectorCommand publishes Executive Report
EU FloodCommand, the pan-European command technology and interoperability programme managed by VectorCommand, has been successfully completed, with coastal flooding/maritime Search and Rescue modules defined, new technologies developed (the EU Command Support System), and an Executive Report published. EU Command Support System will now be adopted by the Swedish Rescue Services Agency, the Irish Coast Guard and the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency. Other European emergency management agencies have also expressed strong interest in this interoperable command and control system.
Commenting on VectorCommand’s management of the EU FloodCommand project, Hervé Martin, from the European Commission, said: ‘Your active participation and sharing of lessons learned has been highly appreciated. Also, the chosen methodology, the innovative technical approaches, the exercising thereof and the dissemination through well attended conferences with participants from many Member States, make this project an excellent example of the added value of practical cooperation within the framework of European civil protection.’
