The Command Support System supports Police, Security and CBRN services and agencies with a suite of integrated technologies which deliver a dynamically updated Common Operational Picture. Pre-event planning, Event management, Communications, Imagery, Asset Management, Electronic Whiteboard, Incident Recording, Standard Operating procedures and Action Plans, and GIS mapping are some of the technologies incorporated into the system, allowing commanders at all levels to view activities, assess options and convey directions. The system is supporting the UK Police National CBRN Centre’s preparations for responding to Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear attacks.
The Training and Exercising System is used for organisational exercising andtraining by organisations such as the multi-agency UK Police National CBRN Training Centre (simulated press conference shown right) and for supporting the new Police Command Assessor element within courses run by Portsmouth University’s Institute of Criminal Justice Studies. Police involvement with multi-agency emergency management exercising is also supported by the system, for helping prepare for contingencies such as flooding and terrorist attacks.
